DBDefence Installation

DBDefence can be installed using the interactive installer or it can also be installed manually. You can read more about how to perform a manual installation in the Distribution section.

DBDefence will initially be installed as a free version, but after activation with a valid activation key the installation will switch into the full version without limitations.

Free Version can be used in commercial projects freely. However, the Free Version has a limited database size of up to 77Mb. Read more about obtaining the full version.

De-selecting Server side installation will skip the installation on the SQL Server. However all program features will be installed.

De-selecting Client side installation will not install encryption tools and documentation. Configuration and decryption tools will be installed.

Login to SQL Server in case of Server side installation:

Please note that you can only install DBDefence to local SQL instances. You can't install DBDefence remotely!

If you upgrade from a previous version you do not need to uninstall the previous version, however you will need to restart the SQL Server instance anyway to reflect the changes.

After you have installed the software, DBDefence makes changes to an SQL Server file called sqlboot.dll. See Configuration for more information.
